Legal Fees & Cost Control

Unless the client requests a partner handle all aspects of the case, associate attorneys are assigned tasks suitable to their experience and the significance of the task to the case (e.g. preparation of pleadings, assistance with discovery responses and production of documents; depositions of fact witnesses; legal research by specific assignment). Paralegals assist in document management. This approach is cost effective for the client.

Computerized research facilities are maintained by the firm, which include access to federal and state statutes, cases and regulations. Significant research is preserved and made available where similar issues are raised.

Clients are involved in case management by direct consultation concerning strategy and ultimate goals for resolution. Many cases are not covered by insurance and clients responsible for legal fees are kept advised of ongoing expenses and anticipated costs vs. benefits (e.g. which depositions of witnesses to take and when should the depositions be taken).

Where appropriate, utilization of a neutral mediator to facilitate settlement is encouraged.

Legal service are provided on an hourly basis. The scope of legal representation is confirmed in a written fee agreement which provides for monthly billing, unless special alternative arrangements are made. Under certain circumstances, flat fees and contingency fees are applicable.

Modified formats for billing statements to accommodate client needs are available upon request.
